The smelter complex covers a site of 6 sqkm and is being built in two phases. Phase I was completed in early 2011, ahead of schedule. In 2011, EMAL commenced the Phase II expansion which is due to be completed by the end of 2014. At the end of Phase II, EMAL will have the longest single potline in the world at 1.7 km and annual production capacity will almost double to 1.3 million metric tonnes. Danway EME has played a major role in the execution of Electrical works associated with the Potlines, Carbon Plant, Casthouse, Material Handling and Power Distribution system in both the phases. During Phase 1 construction, Danway EME had a peak workforce strength of 1600 and achieved more than 4 Million manhours without LTI, validating its commitment to Health and Safety at work site.
